The nature of the material

Ten Houses is an editorial and booking-request website about physical casino hotels in Australia. It is not a casino, it does not offer online casino play, and it does not take wagers. Australia bans online casino play under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, and the houses discussed here are buildings a traveller may visit in person, subject to the law and the venue’s own entry rules. Casino entry is 18+ everywhere in Australia.

The essays, rankings, comparisons and timelines are dated opinion and dated factual reporting. I use official sources where they are available, and I say when a fact comes from secondary sources or when the venue’s own pages do not publish a figure. A room count, ownership line, licence note, restaurant list or distance may change after I write it. The timeline, 1973 to today and comparison are therefore records of the facts available to this desk, not permanent statements about any house.

You may read the site for general travel information, but you should check material details with the hotel before relying on them for a trip, event, reservation or transport plan.

Rankings and editorial judgement

The order of the ten houses is editorial. It is not a statement that one hotel is suitable for every reader, nor is it a promise that a particular stay will feel the same on a later date. The method gives weight to story and building, the stay today as published, setting, transparency, and continuity of operation. No hotel, operator, regulator or booking partner may buy a position in the ranking. If this site earns a referral commission through a hotel link or through the desk, that does not decide the editorial order. The commercial position is explained separately on how this site earns.

The writing is my judgement as an independent editor. It may describe a building, a company record, a riverfront, a hotel wing, a regulatory change, a closure or a booking route, but it is not financial, legal, investment, gambling, safety or medical advice. It should not be treated as an endorsement of gambling activity.

Rates, availability and booking requests

Unless a price is expressly dated and sourced in an article, this site does not guarantee rates. Even where a published rate, package, valet charge or room label appears, it may have changed by the time you ask for it. Availability, inclusions, deposits, cancellation terms, identification requirements, check-in rules, parking access and venue conditions are controlled by the hotel or booking partner, not by this site.

If you use an official hotel link, the booking is between you and the hotel or booking engine you choose. If you ask the desk to check a room, the desk may pass your request to a hotel or booking partner, but any reservation, payment obligation, cancellation right or dispute remains between you and that supplier. This site does not take card details through its letter form, and it does not act as the hotel, casino operator, travel agent of record, insurer or regulator.

You are responsible for checking passport, identification, age, transport, event, dress, access and responsible-gambling requirements that apply to your circumstances. If a page says to write to the desk, that invitation is a request for assistance, not a guarantee that a room can be found.

Use of the site and governing law

You may use this site for personal travel research and for making a genuine booking enquiry. You must not misuse the forms, send unlawful material, attempt to interfere with the site, scrape it in a way that burdens the service, or present the editorial material as your own. Short quotations with attribution are acceptable; wholesale copying is not.

The privacy handling for letter-form data and site measurement is described in the privacy notice. Responsible-gambling information is kept on a separate page because this site is about houses to sleep in, not gambling as a reason to travel; that page is responsible gambling.

To the extent permitted by law, the site is provided as published, without a guarantee that every statement remains current, that every external link continues to work, or that a hotel or partner will accept a booking. These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. If a dispute arises from use of this site, the parties submit to the courts that have jurisdiction in Tasmania, subject always to any non-excludable rights under Australian law.
